BUSINESS HEALTH AND SAFETY
SERVICES
COMPLIANCE SAFETY AUDITS
In the current economic climate it is imperative to secure your assets and more so – your own safety.
The use of occupational health and safety (OHS) audits has grown in recent years. Auditing is now seen as an effective method for ensuring compliance and improving the performance of prevention systems.
An audit is a comprehensive assessment of a business’ current safety systems and procedures designed to provide a safe workplace for Management and their employees. OHS audits allow organisations to measure whether their workplace activities are meeting planned arrangements, and to identify areas of risk that need improvements to prevent injury, illnesses or damage to property or the environment.
An audit report will provide you with recommendations and a comprehensive plan to implement the recommended safety control measures and procedures.
We also provide continuous support and training throughout the implementation stages in the aim of assisting the organisation to be self-sufficient.
HEALTH & SAFETY PLAN
A suitable, sufficiently documented and site specific health and safety plan is based on the client’s health and safety specifications and this plan forms part of the required health and safety file which must be applied within the workplace. The file must be reviewed and updated on a day-to-day basis.
The Health & Safety plan will assist a business in ensuring that all relevant acts, regulations and standards are complied with on a daily basis to prevent incidents and accidents occurring.
We assist in the compilation of new health and safety file and assessing existing on-site health and safety files for compliance to the relevant acts, regulations and standards according to specified work carried out within the business.
INVESTIGATIONS AND DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS
We provide comprehensive investigations with regards to loss of company property as well as incidents or accidents in the workplace.
An investigation into the circumstances of any incident which occurred at or originated from the workplace will give the business information on systems, processes or procedures that need attention. Recommendations are given to prevent similar incidents or accidents from reoccurring.
We can assist your company in actioning a formal disciplinary hearing should the need arise from the outcome of an investigation.
ALCOHOL AND DRUGS WITHIN THE WORKPLACE
Many employers are faced with the problem of employees consuming drugs or alcohol at the workplace while on duty, or before reporting for duty. How can employers best handle this situation?
We assist the employer with the following:
- A proper workplace policy whereby the employer’s policy is clear – zero tolerance.
- Correct test procedures, for example, a breathalyser test for alcohol will be required or a urine test for drugs.
- Training on Alcohol and Drugs.
- Periodic on site testing according to correct procedures.
SCAFFOLD ERECTION AND INSPECTION
Employers using access scaffolding must ensure that such scaffolding, when in use, complies with the Safety Standards incorporated into the Regulations, as well as, ensuring that all scaffolding work operations are caried out under supervision and that scaffold erectors and inspectors are competent to carry out their work. We are trained to erect scaffolding on site according to the required Safety Standards and ensure that scaffolding is SAFE TO USE before employees are required to continue with their tasks.
